Nothing sounds more grating and annoying in all of media than the high-pitched nasal whine of Mark Levin. You may be familiar with his unique brand of political perspective. He’s the host of Life, Liberty And Levin on the Fox News Network, a show that explores the real threat to American democracy that the media ignores – the Democratic party. It also devolves into a nightly rant on culture war buzzwords, historical revisionism, and blind loyalty to Trump.
Levin, a never-Trumper during the 2016 primary, has since transformed into one of Trump’s most sycophantic defenders. The transformation wasn’t all that subtle, but a total ideological collapse into MAGA Land. But Levin has always been more committed to the idea of Conservatism as a brand than to the actual consequences of policy. He’s a dyed-in-the wool Neo-Con, more concerned with the optics of American decline rather than preventing it.
During the Obama years, Levin was a willing participant of the Conservative outrage machine. Obama care sent him into nightly spasms of rage, comparing the Affordable Care Act to Nazism, and Obama himself to Hitler. It was rhetoric that was as lazy as it was racist. Let’s not forget his silence when the birther movement gained steam, as Conservatives peddled the lie that Obama was really born in Kenya, a not-so-subtle way of saying “he doesn’t belong in the White House.” Levin was part of the echo chamber that helped to mainstream it.
Fast-forward to 2025 and Levin’s nasal screech is still being broadcast into millions of homes. What’s he mad about this time, you might ask? Trump being called a dictator. That’s right. Because, apparently, shipping migrants to foreign prisons without due process isn’t dictatorial – it’s saving the country.
“What’s this I hear about Trump being a dictator?!” he screeched in his nasally voice. The microphone whined in protest. Levin ignored it, continuing.
“How can he be a dictator? He’s not a dictator! He’s tryin’ to save America, not destroy it!”
To Levin, saving America is undermining the asylum process, violating international law, and blatantly abusing human rights. To Levin, it’s all just a leftist smear.
“It’s the Democrats who are tryin’ to destroy everything with their ‘woke” this, their “woke” that. Woke, woke, woke. Everything’s woke with those idiots! They have woke on the brain!
“Nothing’s woke! As far as I’m concerned – they’re all asleep!”
Levin’s move, like all Conservatives, is to take a buzzword and beat it to death until it bleeds. The purpose is to shout it so often that it loses all meaning. It’s the equivalent of a toddler throwing a tantrum until it gets its way.
“Don’t the Democrats have anything else to scream about?!” he continued. The microphone sqeeled in protest again. This time Levin took a swipe at it.
“Jesus Christ! It sounds like Nancy Pelosi screaming’ in my ear!
“How about all the crimes these migrants are committing, terrorizing decent folk like you and me? Why aren’t they screaming about that? How about all the terrorists that Sleepy Joe and Kambambala Harris let in with their open border?!”
The dog-whistles were loud enough to shatter eardrums. The use of Kambambala is typical of a Conservative like Levin – juvenile mockery posing as political commentary, undercut with the discomfort of a woman of color holding power, thrown to the base like red meat.
“How about all the gas prices that are now practically non-existent?
“How about the grocery prices no one could afford? Remember when none of us could afford groceries without emptying our bank accounts? Remember when we were all starving to death? Remember when we were all wondering where our next meal was coming from? Remember when we all stood for hours in food lines just for a scrap of bread?
“Well I do! Now we’re all able to buy food again, and gas prices are so low they’re practically non-existent! And it’s all because of Donald Trump! Before we know it gas prices will be 5 cents a gallon, and ten cents for a dozen eggs!”
The logic was so unhinged it was almost poetic. If prices are too high, it’s Biden’s fault. If they’re low, it’s proof of Trump’s economic genius.
“When that happens you know what’s gonna happen?Commie News Network and MSLSD will find something else to complain about. They just can’t give him credit for anything. President Trump could pick his nose during an interview, or fart during a live press conference, and these idiots will turn it into a national scandal!
“They know he’s the greatest president who ever lived, but they’ll never admit it, because they have Trump Derangement! Yeah, that’s right, I said it!
“Wake up Democrats!
“You too, Mr. Producer.”
And that’s the crux of the argument: if you don’t love Trump, you’re deranged, not the mindless MAGA base that believes all of the bullshit he says are recordings planted secretly in his brain by the radical left just to make him sound stupid.
Levin is not a critical thinker. He’s a court jester in the MAGA world, screeching his sermons of grievance into a microphone that begs for mercy. And still, millions tune in. Go figure.
