According to former NFL player Burgess Owens , God , family and country are under attack from the evil , violent left. He appeared recently on Fox News to make this ridiculous claim , and neither of the two talking heads who interviewed him , had the balls to challenge him.
He was upset that NFL players are kneeling instead of worshiping the flag. That their actions are disrespectful not only to the flag , but to America , and the veterans who defend it. It’s been over a year since Kaepernick first took a knee , and conservatives are still insisting that it has nothing to do with police misconduct in the black community , that it has nothing to do with protesting racism among law enforcement. Instead , they’ve convinced themselves that it has everything to do with hating America , hating the flag , hating law enforcement , and hating freedom itself. By ignoring what anthem protests are really all about , they don’t have to address the issues these athletes are attempting to bring to light : that institutional racism still exists , racial profiling exists , problems that conservatives would rather sweep under the rug than address because it makes them feel uncomfortable. They don’t want to acknowledge the real problems and issues that should concern all Americans.
Where is their outrage over homelessness and poverty?
Where is their outrage over the fact that we are involved militarily in seven different places?
Where is their outrage that we supposedly don’t have enough money to care for our own citizens when it comes to education , and health care , but plenty when it comes to spending billions annually on corporate welfare , billions annually to our allies , and to our own military?
Where is their outrage over drone strikes that nine times out of ten , kill civilians?
Where is their outrage that we morally and financially support a government in Saudi Arabia , that not only beheads its own citizens for blasphemy , but is the number one sponsor of terrorism in the middle east , a government that was behind 9/11 , a government that is systematically carrying out a genocidal war in Yemen?
And then we have a president who self-righteously and hypocritically has the audacity to declare North Korea a state sponsor of terrorism , but doesn’t include us or Saudi Arabia on the list.
Where is their outrage that millions of children might soon lose their health insurance through CHIP?
Where is their outrage that 32 , 000 to 33 , 000 Americans die by gun violence annually?
Where is their outrage that we have representatives that offer empty thoughts and prayers after every mass shooting , instead of actually doing something about it?
Where is their outrage that we have a gun lobby that is essentially bribing our representatives , both of which are complicit in mass murder?
Where is their outrage that we have an authoritarian president who frequently attacks the media and NFL athletes as un-American , who pardoned a criminally convicted racist , who morally supports a pedophile , has defended white nationalists as fine people , and re-tweets their posts on twitter? They called Obama an authoritarian over Obama care , and yet they don’t seem to mind actual authoritarianism under Trump.
Conservatives don’t seem to be concerned about any of the real issues that affect all of us , such as health care , tax reform , housing the homeless , making sure that children can go to school without being gunned down by someone with an assault weapon.
No , they’re not concerned about any of the things that really matter. They’ve reserved their outrage that NFL athletes are exercising their constitutional rights. They’re outraged over non-existent religious persecution.
Now , what’s funny about this , is this fool wrote a book called Liberalism Or How To Turn Good Men Into Whiners Weenies And Whimps , and yet here he is on Fox News whining like a little weenie about NFL athletes taking a knee. Oh , the sweet , sweet irony.
Perhaps someone should point out to him that he’s become the very same thing he’s accusing liberals of being , a whining little weenie , whose feewings have been triggered , because he’s obviously not bright enough to figure it out on his own.
