“MSNBC Takes Morning Joe Off Air in Wake of Trump Shooting” https://www.mediaite.com/tv/is-msnbc-taking-morning-joe-off-air-in-wake-of-trump-shooting-an-admission-they-cant-do-news/amp/
In the wake of the alleged assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life, executives at MSNBC apparently decided not to air one of its most popular opinion shows, Morning Joe, on Monday.
According to CNN, “a person familiar with the situation told CNN that the decision was made to avoid a scenario in which one of the show’s two dozen plus guests night possibly make an inappropriate comment on live television that could be used to assail the network as a whole.”
So-called “fair and balanced,” news networks from Fox News to NewsNation took the CNN story as an admission that MSNBC can’t do news as well and as honest as they apparently can. A little self-reflection is needed here.
Founding editor of Mediaite, Colby Hall, appeared on Morning In America with Anna Kooiman, to complain about the drama – which, literally, no one but Republicans and enlightened centrists , give a shit about. But at NewsNation and other right-wing news and opinion networks, it was the scandal of the century. The reason they treated it as a scandal was their obsession with mainstream media having opinions contrary to their own, i.e., criticism of Donald Trump. MSNBC has a slew of hosts who don’t like Trump – many of them Republicans – therefore they’re partisan and hateful, unlike Fox News and NewsNation, both of which are bipartisan, fair and balanced and unbiased in their coverage of the issues. MSNBC has always informed their viewership that Trump is a threat to democracy: He tried to steal an election while blaming Democrats, the media, and Biden of conspiring to steal it out from under him; he wanted to shoot peaceful protesters outside the White House in 2020; the mob that he and his media lapdogs incited, wanted to hang Mike Pence because he wouldn’t do what Trump wanted him to do. These are criticisms you are not going to hear discussed on Fox News or even NewsNation, the only two fair and balanced, and unbiased news outlets.
Speaking to Kooiman ( a former Fox News host ) Hall said, “They’re angry that basically the NBC executives sort of ostensibly said they didn’t trust them with breaking news. And, of course, they have a lot of high profile guests that are known, like a lot of opinion programming that’s not real straight news. They try to say stuff that’s over- the- top to try to get attention, and Saturday afternoon or the evening was a grave and sad day in American political history with the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. And it’s a very progressive show. So you can understand some of the logic, but you also have to be able to believe that the people you put on the air will be disciplined enough to not say something inflammatory or wrong. So it’s a stunning drama that these top talent are basically calling out NBC news executives. It’s not something we typically see on a Morning Joe program.”
And, unfortunately, it’s not something you will ever see at NewsNation, a network that claims to be “news for all America,” news that’s fair and balanced, and “unbiased.” No one at NewsNation – certainly not Colby Hall – will ever take their own network to task when one of its hosts says something inflammatory or over -the -top.
Enlightened centrists like Hall, Abrams, and others at NewsNation are obsessed with both – siding everything. MAGA Republicans are extreme, therefore progressives like AOC and her associates in Congress are also extreme because they dare to oppose the genocide in Gaza. They hate MSNBC and CNN more than they hate Fox News, and often refer to both networks as far-left or progressive. There is nothing progressive or far-left about either one. CNN is a conservative news network, always has been, and MSNBC is more of a liberal-Democrat network that acts as a mouthpiece for the party, just as Fox is a literal mouthpiece for the MAGA Republican party. To call either network far-left is disingenuous, and uninformed.
Hall has has yet to offer any criticisms or condemn the aborhant behavior of his colleagues at NewsNation. Dan Abrams, Leland Vittert, and Chris Cuomo have all made over-the-top, inflammatory comments and remarks about the student protest movement for Palestine, accusing them of supporting terrorism, and doing the same with certain MSNBC hosts. None of these men, to my knowledge, have been chastised by the executives at NewsNation. Could it be that much of the executive staff, and the program hosts, are Republicans and/or Trump supporters? It’s no secret that most of the executive staff and hosts are former Fox News people.
Hall: “I’ll say also, this is another in a string of sort of questionable decisions from the brass. Remember Ronna McDaniel? She’s the former RNC chair that was brought on by MSNBC to be a Republican contributor. And then, great outrage! And they, eventually, the head of NBC news pulled the plug because it seemed the inmates are running the asylum.”
Yeah, I remember Ronna McDaniel, the RNC chair who played a key role in the insurrection. Who went on national television during a news conference making a fool of herself, making seditious, inflammatory falsehoods about the election, a news conference that even Fox News refused to air. But, according to this guy, because MSNBC hosts showed some integrity and decency by not wanting her to be a part of their network, they were the inmates running the asylum? No, it just means that most of the hosts at MSNBC demonstrated some actual integrity and decency by objecting to having a politician who openly and willingly participated in a coup against the United States.
I also remember the smarmy, smug reactions from NewsNation hosts, like Dan Abrams, Leland Vittert, Jesse Weber and Chris Cuomo, as they childishly mocked them for not wanting to have an election denier on their network.
Perhaps NewsNation should hire McDaniel as a contributor. God knows she would fit right in on a network who’s executives obviously have no problem with hiring former Fox News and other conservative pundits who have no integrity or credibility.
