On October 07 Palestinian terrorists – Hamas – invaded Israel, killing hundreds of civilians, and took hostages, the majority of them civilians. Israel retaliated by bombing Gaza, slaughtering – as of today – thousands of Palestinians.
The Israel/Gaza “conflict” is an on-going, never-ending cycle of violence and retribution due to the failed policies of Israel’s expansion of the West Bank, including it’s on-going year’s-long blockade of the Gaza Strip, and the United States’ willing support of whatever Israel does.
Most Americans are ignorant of current events in the Middle East, due in part by Western media and press. When it comes to Israel and their campaign of violence against Palestinians, the mainstream media champions the side of Israel, willingly promoting their propaganda, and will condemn anyone who dares criticize Israel’s policies in the region, as anti-Semitic. There can never be any context or nuance to this “conflict.” Support for Israel must be unwavering and absolute, and any support for Palestinian sovereignty, must never be tolerated or else you hate Israel.
This is the narrative that centrist mainstream media must follow: “Israel are God’s chosen people, and can do no wrong.” “Israel is a democracy surrounded by savages whose only goal is to wipe them from the map.” “Israel is the only victim.” “Israel has the right to defend itself.” All of which can be interpreted as: committing genocide on an entire group of people in the name of defense. We are currently seeing this being played out this very moment in Gaza, and the western media is defending this behavior.
Anyone, whether a university instructor, a politician, or a media personality, who dares stray from this narrative, who dares demonstrate the slightest concern for the welfare of Palestinians, are attacked, cancelled, and accused of antisemitism.
The above Nation article mentions the three major news outlets that propagate pro-Israel propaganda. There is another news outlet, and that is NewsNation, a “centrist” news source – that the Daily Beast has described as “Fox News lite” that promotes itself as the only unbiased source of news. But for a supposed unbiased source, it is even more pro-Israel than the three networks. NewsNation includes the likes of Dan Abrams, and Leland Vittert, two of Israel’s biggest mouthpieces. Tunning into either Abram’s or Vittert’s opinion programs on a nightly basis, you can always catch them complaining about the “far-left” mainstream media, by which they mean MSNBC and CNN, despite the fact that both of them are even more centrist and are much more critical of Donald Trump, something that is often lacking at NewsNation. Both opinion hosts are highly critical of progressive lawmakers, often accusing them of antisemitism if they dare criticize Israel. Both hosts have smeared the cease fire movement as antisemitic and pro-Hamas. Vittert is a former Fox News opinion host who has promoted nonsense on the lab leak theory on NewsNation and never misses an opportunity to bad mouth the media and Dr. Fauci for their alleged COVID fear mongering because they refused to take Donald Trump seriously when he called it the China flu.
Allegedly he has been skeptical of Trump’s claim of a stolen election, but on the other hand, has no trouble with COVID conspiracies of a China-made virus as a bioweapon, and has previously accused the media and Fauci of suppressing the lab leak theory. Why NewsNation would hire such a hack is anyone’s guess.
NewsNation as a whole has presented only one side during the Israel-Hamas war: the side of Israel. It has entirely ignored any Palestinian voices. No bias, my ass.
