Ever since president Joe Biden showed his testicles by accurately describing MAGA Republicans as the fascists they are, conservative pundits have been having metaphorical fits and tantrums.
“What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of the extreme MAGA philosophy,” he said last week. “It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the – I’m going to say something: it’s like semi-fascism. The MAGA Republicans don’t just threaten our personal rights and economic security. They’re a threat to our very democracy. They refuse to accept the will of the people. They embrace political violence. They don’t believe in democracy.”

He argued that the level of lawlessness seen by MAGA Republicans has included the attempted insurrection, voter fraud, a kidnapping attempt, bombing plots, assassination threats, slaying of an anti-racism protester in Charlottesville, attacks on the FBI, threats against the National Archives, threats against IRS agents, and judges, reporters, FBI agents and a slew of elected officials.
"Let's be clear," he said. "The Republican party, the MAGA Republicans are a domestic terrorist cell operating in America. This is a group of people who have decide that it is acceptable to use violence and threats of violence to try to achieve their political means. That it's okay to threaten law enforcement to stop them from doing their job, and anytime you have people dedicated to using violent rhetoric, to incite violence against other people - that's terrorism. That's what we're seeing from the Republican party."
While it can be argued that the Republican party is a terrorist cell, I don’t think it can be argued that some of their rhetoric has not inspired unhinged individuals from acting out violently on such rhetoric. There were several examples during Trump’s four years in the White House. The shooting in a Walmart in El Paso, Texas in 2019, is one example of violence that was carried out by a white nationalist who was responding to “the Hispanic invasion of Texas,” he said in his manifesto.
While not necessarily acting on any specific rhetoric, he was responding to general replacement rhetoric. Prior to the shooting Fox News and other right-wing media pundits were engaging in “invasion” rhetoric when reporting on immigration. And prior to the shooting in a Buffalo, New York, supermarket, those same media pundits regularly engaged in “replacement” rhetoric to inspire fear and loathing of immigrants in the minds of their audiences.
Look In The Mirror, Joe!
In a recent article ( in need of an editor, I might add ) in the Gateway Pundit, Joe Hoft – twin brother to Jim Hoft – attempts to make the case that it’s actually Joe Biden who is a fascist, and to prove his point he references a video of a Sky News Australia Pundit, who is “more honest than anyone in the U.S. media.”
“Senile, mean, and corrupt Joe Biden held a ‘rally’ produced by the Democrat establishment to make it look like some people out there really like him,” Mr. Hoft begins his brilliant column. “No doubt the participants were bussed in. There were enough participants to fill the pictures ( ??? ) and that was about it.”
They must have been Antifa, and Biden paid them all personally, since nobody really likes him.
“The event was in a small portion of a high school gym with a set to make it look like a Trump rally with tens of thousands of participants. The sound was louder than the crowd, so that appeared to be pumped in too.’
“During his talk, Biden shared that the people who support and love America and president Trump, are “semi-fascists.”
“Australia TV addressed this by saying:
“This Orwellian claptrap might work with the resistance crowd who still think Russia stole the 2016 election but sane people would know that fascism is a system of government where opponents and critics are suppressed and attacked,” Rita the Aussie pundit says. “It’s subordination of individual difference for supposed good of the nation, including the regimentation of society and the economy.
“It’s using the police and other government agencies to come after your opponents. Sound familiar. (?) We’ve seen the hopelessly compromised and politicized agencies like the FBI and IRS have become acting as the Democrats enforcers. Then there’s the bulk of the mainstream media and the Big Tech platforms which act as the Democrats propaganda arms… you wanna talk about semi-fascism, look in the mirror.”
Rita the Aussie pundit begins her tirade by accurately describing what fascism is, but then she wanders off into conspiracy land by absurdly claiming that the FBI and IRS have become politicized by Democrats to act like Nazi enforcers to suppress and go after their critics. Big Tech and mainstream media are also guilty in this conspiracy. The conspiracy that Donald Trump and his MAGA supporters are victims of liberal tyranny, liberal fascism.
They pushed conspiracy bullshit during the pandemic. That wearing a mask, observing lockdowns, and vaccines that were allegedly killing thousands, were government tyranny to take away freedoms, and as a result of the conspiracies, people died. The media figures who pushed these conspiracies have never been held accountable for the blood on their hands.
They pushed conspiracy bullshit that the 2020 election was stolen, even as they worked behind the scenes to undermine those elections in favor of their candidate. And when that failed, they responded in the only way they knew how – through violence.
Now, they’re pushing conspiracies that the FBI and the IRS are the political tools of the Democrat elites who are unfairly targeting their critics and opponents for no other reason than being conservative – not that they attempted to undermine and overthrow a democratic election, and their former president removing documents from the White House – for which he is under investigation – that do not belong to him.
Investigating political figures who participated in the tampering of a U.S. election, the subsequent attempted insurrection, and a former president for theft of government documents, does not fall under the definition of tyranny or fascism.
It falls under the definition of accountability.
