Conservatives have constructed an entire victim culture around themselves. Every institution from public schools to corporations are indoctrinating their kids with woke culture nonsense, CRT, homosexuality, transgenderism, socialism, and any ism that sounds threatening. An if they dare fight back, Big Tech is threatening to censor and ban them.
Tuesday, the Supreme Court temporarily struck down a Texas Law that restricts or prohibits social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, from moderating any questionable content. Foreseeing legal challenges, a temporary stay was granted against the law – by a vote of 5-4 – at the request of tech industry.
Certain advocacy groups have referred to the law as “an unprecedented assault on the editorial discretion of private websites,” and would most likely allow Russian propaganda, and conspiracy theories such as the Great Replacement.
After the bill, known as HB 20, was signed into law, Texas governor Greg Abbott released this press statement:
“We will always defend freedom of speech in Texas, which is why I am proud to sign House Bill 20 into law to protect first amendment rights in the lone star state. Social media websites have become our modern day public square. They are a place for healthy public debate where information should be able to flow freely – but there is a dangerous movement by social media companies to silence conservative viewpoints and ideas. That is wrong, and we will not allow it in Texas. I thank Senator Bryan Hughes, Representative Briscoe Cain, and the Texas Legislature for ensuring that House Bill 20 reached my desk during the second special session.”
Texas AG Ken Paxton, said in an Amicus brief:
“The regulation of big tech censorship will inevitably suppress the ideas and beliefs of millions of Americans. I will defend the first amendment and ensure that conservative voices have the right to be heard. Big tech does not have the authority to police the expressions of people whose political viewpoint they simply disagree with.”
What conservatives like Abbott and Paxton don’t seem to understand, is that “Big Tech” – private companies like Facebook and Twitter – do have the authority to moderate their platforms. It’s called terms of service. No one can use a social media platform without first agreeing to its TOS. And conservatives are always violating those terms of service, which is why they get banned.
Big tech is not censoring conservative expressions, viewpoints or ideas simply because they’re conservative. There is no conspiracy to silence conservative voices. Conservative voices are among the biggest on social media platforms. The conservatives who complain the most about social media censorship want the freedom to say whatever they want, about anyone and anything they don’t like.
They want the freedom to smear trans and gay people as pedophiles and groomers. They want the freedom to spread ridiculous conspiracy theories about a stolen election, vaccines, and Anthony Fauci. They want the freedom to spread white nationalist conspiracy theories that have played a role in getting people killed, and they definitely do not want to be held accountable for the consequences of these views. That’s what this law is about – policing private companies that do not tolerate bigotry, and harrassment.
And that is censorship. From Big government.
