Duante Wright’s funeral was Thursday in Minneapolis at Shiloh Temple International Ministries. In attendance were family members, politicians, and civil rights leaders. On the afternoon of April 11, Wright had been fatally wounded as he attempted to flee after resisting arrest for a previous warrant.
Hundreds of people from political figures to relatives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Philando Castile, were at the funeral, as were relatives of Emmet Till, the fourteen year-old who had been murdered in 1955 for having the audacity of talking to a white woman.

“I never imagined I would be standing here,” mother Katie Wright said. “The roles should be completely reversed. My son should be burying me.”
The George Floyd Justice In Policing Act of 2021, HR-1280, a bill to hold law enforcement accountable for brutality and misconduct, passed through the House of Representatives on March 03. The bill has yet to pass through the Senate.
