Talking Points Memo recently reported that Sheriff Dar Leaf of Barry County, Michigan dismissed the plot to kidnap Michigan’s governor, Gretchen Whitmer, by members of a far right anti-government militia group known as Wolverine Watchmen.
Apparently this sheriff was seen with one of the men – William Null – arrested for the kidnapping plot, during a May gathering to protest the governor’s May lock down order. When asked if he regretted his association with Null, he merely shrugged it off as if it were nothing.
He attempted to explain that the aggrieved were just attempting to do their lawful duty as citizens of the state of Michigan, who had suffered through the horrible shut down as if they had been victimized by a lawless tyrant.
“Are they trying to kidnap?” Leaf asked. ” ‘Cause a lot of people are angry with the governor, and they want her arrested. ( She forced them to wear masks because of a virus that doesn’t even exist. There’s no proof that it’s real. President Trump said it was a hoax by the Democrats to ruin him. He proved it himself by not wearing a mask. So why should they wear masks? Forcing people to wear something that won’t protect them against anything, except maybe to restrict their breathing, doesn’t make any sense. Should be a law against it. )
“So, are they trying to arrest, or was it a kidnap attempt? Because you can still, in Michigan if it’s a felony, you can make a felony arrest,” the bumpkin continued. “Doesn’t say if you’re an elected official you’re exempt from that arrest,” the doofus went on. “So I have to look at it more from that angle. I’m hoping more that’s what it is. In fact these guys are innocent until proven guilty. ( I know the law. You can’t arrest someone who’s attempting to make a citizens arrest. It’s treason, just as it’s treason to force people to wear masks ).”
The Huffington Post reported that the rube is allegedly affiliated with the extremist “constitutional sheriff’s,” a movement that believes that sheriffs outrank state and federal authorities. The group is tied to right-wing militias.
The men allegedly devised an intricate conspiracy to “snatch and grab” Whitmer at her vacation home and put her on “trial” in a “secure location” in Wisconsin. They believed she had committed “treason” with her emergency restrictions on businesses and schools to protect against COVID-19 ( which apparently included wearing masks. The horror ).
