The NRA would have you believe that none of its members, or any of its leadership, are extreme, or dangerous. After every mass shooting, a favorite talking point of the NRA that is often repeated, is that anyone who supports gun control, is akin to Hitler, and is attacking the sacred second amendment right of every law abiding gun owner. Since they ( the NRA leadership, and its rabid supporters in the news and social media ) oppose even the most moderate forms of gun reform, they have no real desire to debate gun safety in the aftermath of mass shootings, often repeating the argument that more gun laws will not deter criminals, so they inevitably resort to playing the victim, and attacking anyone who dares to speak out in favor of stricter gun laws, smearing them as crises actors; useful idiots of George Soros and communists; soulless and mushy brained, and brainwashed ( said SpongeTed Squishy Pants of the March For Our Lives activists, and who later said that conservative gun owners need to treat liberals like rabid coyotes by shooting them ); wanting to repeal the sacred second amendment ( claimed Dana Loesch on Fox News, alluding to an article written by former Justice John P. Stevens, conveniently ignoring the fact that he is a Republican ); wanting to murder law abiding NRA members ( claimed Republican senator, Beverly Boswell ); 80% of Democrats want to execute gun owners ( claimed Tucker Carlson to Alex Jones ); and the countless death threats by unhinged NRA supporting gun nuts who believed and shared the conspiracies and lies about them on social media.
No, not all of its members are blameless. There is no doubt in my mind that many of them are unhinged and on the edge of sanity ( Nugent is the epitome of crazy and dangerous ) and are listening and agreeing with the hateful and dangerous rhetoric spewing from the pie holes of the likes of SpongeTed Squishy Pants, and the president of the United States.
