TheBlaze: Watch: Fox host excoriates Dem staffer for ‘bringing us to dark ages’ with anti-Trump rhetoric. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwvZuG4zU
If there is anything I hate most about conservatives , it’s their hypocrisy. They spend much of their time attacking liberals over everything they themselves are guilty of. In this case , its violent rhetoric. When it comes to their own hypocrisy , they either deny it , or genuinely don’t see it.
The article above is from The Blaze , Glenn Beck’s online website , which is just one of many sources of conservative tabloid journalism masquerading a ‘real news.’ And it’s a perfect example of hypocrisy that Fox News commentators are blind to.
Trish Regan at Fox Business Network recently got her undies tangled into a knot over some anti-Trump rhetoric. She was upset that a Democratic senator allegedly said she hoped that Trump would be assassinated , and that some Democrats had said that the White House was full of white supremacists.
Which isn’t news to most people who pay attention to politics. But the folks at Fox News and their audience are clueless , even when presented with evidence.
The divisive rhetoric coming from the Democrats , according to Regan , are bringing America back to the dark ages.
“Liberals have a playbook ,” she said. “This is the agenda they’re trying to advance. You guys are taking it too far here , just simply too far. We as a nation have come so far and you’re bringing us back into the dark ages with this kind of rhetoric.”
Liberals have a playbook. It’s not too hard to catch her meaning here : they’re violent in both speech and actions. This is , of course , ridiculous. How many liberals have taken up guns and killed someone because of dangerous rhetoric? Not a whole lot. According to the SPLC most of the political violence has been carried out by far right anti-government groups like Sovereign Citizens , and other anti-American militia groups. But , of course , the corporate media has no interest in addressing this issue. To hear them tell it , the only violence in America we should be concerned about , is Islamic terrorism , and the so-called terrorism from their newest boogeymen , Antifa , and Black Lives Matter.
Ned Ryun , a former speech writer for George Bush , who was also a guest on the program , said that liberals need to stop playing identity politics , and need to disavow Antifa. This notion among conservatives that liberals as a whole support Antifa , is absurd. Many liberals have disavowed the violent tactics of Antifa. Some of You Tubes leading progressive voices , The Young Turks , and Kyle Kulinski , have condemned Antifa’s violent behavior on college campuses. On the other hand , I haven’t seen many conservatives in the media condemn the fringe right. Instead , since the election of Donald Trump , they’ve embraced victim hood , have denied systemic racism and have elevated the notion that white people are discriminated against more than minorities.
Ryun continues : “Hate is hate , and violence is violence. They wear black , but they sure remind me of people who wore brown.” In other words , he’s not worried about actual Nazis , many of whom are members of racist anti-government militias and other groups that have actually killed American citizens over the decades , but also police officers. No , he and other conservatives are not worried about their violence , their hatred of their own government. They’re patriots because they’re conservatives. They’re more worried about anti-fascist protesters , and civil rights groups likes Black Lives Matter , which haven’t killed anyone. Where the fuck are their priorities?
Regan was also miffed that someone had the gall to refer to her president as a white supremacist. “Pablo , you see what your party is doing. They’re saying , ‘One less white supremacist in the White House.’ You’re telling me you’ve got a bunch of white supremacists in the White House?! That is what the DNC is saying.”
The double standard here is apparent to everyone but Trish Regan , Ned Ryun and the Fox News audience. But , it’s Fox News , so it’s to be expected. It wasn’t that long ago , when not just Fox News , but much of the conservative media , and many in the GOP , were calling Obama and his entire administration racist. Of course their evidence was ridiculous : he criticized a white police officer – ‘without knowing all the facts‘ – who arrested Harvard Law professor Henry Louis Gates for breaking into his own home. Conservatives lost their minds. Glenn Beck , who was at Fox News at the time , said he had a problem with white people , all based on one comment. Of course , they came up with even more absurd so-called evidence to prove he was a racist. He refused to side with George Zimmerman with the comment that Trayvon Martin could have been his son , and that he could have been Trayvon Martin , which to wing nuts was further evidence that he hated white people , and sided with a known thug and didn’t show any sympathy for Zimmerman who was the real victim. He sided with Black Lives Matter and incited a race war ( anyone tuning into Fox News during these events would have seen Fox pundits like Jeanine Pirro actually inciting race violence ) in both Ferguson Missouri , and Baltimore , and called for open violence against law enforcement ( Rudy Giuliani brazenly claimed on Fox News ).
God knows conservatives have never taken it too far with their extreme rhetoric. It wasn’t taking it too far when a racist Tea party member at a town hall meeting called for Obama to be assassinated , without being chastised by the GOP congressman who was present. Ted Nugent never took it too far when saying that Obama and Clinton should be hung for treason for the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi . He was just joking ( Americans were killed in embassy/consulate attacks under Bush , but conservatives never held him accountable , and Democrats and the media never politicized those attacks ). The NRA never took it too far when they sold shooting targets of Barack Obama that bleed. It wasn’t taking it too far when a Muslim free gun store owner sold shooting targets with the faces of Obama , Hillary Clinton , and Bernie Sanders. It wasn’t taking it too far when Donald Trump’s former butler , Anthony Senecal , wrote on his Facebook page calling for the death of Barack Obama. Glenn Beck never took it too far when he fantasized about killing Michael Moore , and Nancy Pelosi. It wasn’t taking it too far when Robert Lewis Dear – who was clearly inspired by anti-abortion rhetoric – killed three people in a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado. And Glenn Beck never took it too far with his extreme rhetoric against a little known progressive organization.
Conservatives have always been extreme in their rhetoric against Obama and Democrats , but when Democrats engage in the same behavior , or God forbid , tell the truth about Donald Trump , suddenly we’re back in the dark ages.
