Former professional football player Jim Brown believes Colin Kaepernick is desecrating the flag by kneeling instead of worshiping it. And apparently , that’s just as bad as stepping on it , spitting on it , wiping his nose on it , or even wiping his ass on it.
According to Brown , kneeling is the wrong form of protest.
“I’m an American ,” Brown said in a recent interview with the New York Post. “I don’t desecrate my flag and my National anthem. This is my country and I’ll work out the problems , but I’ll do it in an intelligent manner.”
Well , getting out and marching peacefully in the streets , is protesting in an intelligent manner. But apparently not to people like Jim Brown. No form of protest is the right form of protest to those who hate people like Colin Kaepernick. When they take a knee , they are called thugs , and when they do get out in the streets and march peacefully , they are called thugs , terrorists , and un American. They get shot and killed by trigger happy cops , have their lives smeared by the media , and the police who commit the crimes are portrayed as the true victims.
According to the article , Kaeprenick began to kneel in order to protest what he alleged was an increasing spate of police brutality against minorities. No allege. Fact. If it wasn’t verifiably a fact that minorities have been shot and or killed using lethal force , and in most cases the police who do the killing , receiving no punishment , Kapernick would have no need to kneel.
Brown : “If you have a cause , I think you should organize it , present it in a manner where it’s not only you standing or sitting on one knee , but a lot of people who are gonna get behind each other and do something about it. Who is Colin Kaepernick calling on to follow what he’s talking about?”
Apparently a lot of people believe in what Kaepernick is doing. Not everyone believes he’s trashing the flag or disrespecting American soldiers.
Brown : “Colin has to make up his mind whether he’s truly an activist or a football player.”
No , he doesn’t. There are no rules that say you can’t be both a professional football player and an activist.
Brown : “You have to understand there’s intelligence that’s involved , OK? I can’t be two things at once that contradict each other.” Yes , you can. Conservatives do and say things all the time that are contradictory. Like believing in the first amendment , but wanting to ban the free speech of anyone who says something they don’t like. It’s called hypocrisy.
